Birthdays and Babies

I'm pretty sure I've explained just how much my dad loves my dog. You remember, how dad spent a good $50+ on Ollie for Christmas, and how he takes Ollie out for 3+ walks a day. And Ollie, the polite little puppy he is, reciprocates the love with 20+ little Ollie kisses, and sleeps with Grandpa for 6+ nights out of the week. They pretty much adore each other... +100.

Well anyway, this weekend proves my point. The family came down to stay with us last weekend. Not to see the sights- the farthest we traveled was the local dog park... and not to escape the cold- okay probably to escape the cold...

Dad made the five hour trip to bring Ollie a car for his first birthday.

Just kidding, just kidding. We bought this little car last weekend for an set of extra wheels while we get the Acura sold. But since we couldn't bring it down last weekend when we were in Ogden my dad decided to bring it to us on the weekend of Oliver's birthday. No surprise there!

We joked all weekend long- how many doggies get a car for their first birthday?!

Him and Joel were even prepared with party ideas. So we picked up some party hats and a superhero cake...

And we threw that dog a party.
:)

This picture cracks me up.

It was a blast, honestly. 'Course every special occasion should call for cake and ice cream. Especially when it involves girl scout ice cream.

Yep- my family would drive 300 miles to see their grandpup in a party hat. But that's just what he is to them- he's pretty much their grandchild. And since we're not having kids anytime soon, it's a good thing they're wild for Wally. :)

Speaking of babies though.... I have a new niece! Penelope Muir was born late Saturday night in one of the smoothest and quickest births ever. I can't wait to get to work babysitting. I love her already!

It was a madhouse that night- cramming both families in our townhome, but we all got sleep and the next morning we went to see baby Poppy!

Ben and Sheridon came up as well so we spent the day shootin' the breeze.

It was a good weekend, hanging out with our families and celebrating the fact that we've kept a living creature alive for an entire year. Maybe one day we'll be ready for one of these.

And when that day comes, I'm sure my dad will spoil that too.

:)
